Fugitive surrenders in El Monte after standoff

A wanted parolee was held up inside an El Monte home for about three hours before he finally surrendered to U.S. Marshals and a sheriff’s SWAT team, according to El Monte police. The suspect identified as Frankie Garcia ultimately surrendered and was jailed on an arrest warrant from an assault case that occurred in West Covina. He was suspected of violating his parole. He barricaded himself In an attempt to evade the police from capturing him. The suspect decided to surrender after he realized that the SWAT team was about to make entry. Further details of the initial arrest and the parole agreement were not released by the police in charge of the investigation.
